- Create a MySQL account &
- Link this account to the new database.
Step 4: Alter wp-config.php file
Open the database you downloaded in “step 2”. There you will get a file named “wp-config.php”. This file controls the connection amongst WordPress and your site’s database. Now reveal the file and alter the following things:
- Alter database name: Locate this line:
Define (‘DB_NAME’, ‘db_name’); Put your new database name in the portion ‘db_name’.
- Alter database username: Locate this line:
Define (‘DB_NAME’, ‘db_user’); put the new database username you created to match your new web host.

Define (‘DB_NAME’, ‘db_pass’); Add new password for your new hosting account.
Now save & close the file.
Step 5: Import database to the new hosting
Now you get a new database, so go cPanel and choose the new database from the left sidebar. When it opens, import the SQL database file you saved in your pc. Now, wait for a while. This might take a few minutes.
